AERIAL MAGNETOMETRY WITH DRONE

Learn more about Magdrone’s method

Aerial drone magnetometry stands out as one of the most innovative geophysical methods in recent years, driven by technological advancement. This evolution enables even greater accuracy and resolution in surveys.

The use of Magdrone has been increasing in mineral exploration programs due to the better application advantages in the following aspects:

  • No need to open bites in the areas of interest;
  • Higher labor productivity when compared to ground surveys;
  • High sampling rate of acquired data;
  • Low flight height (between 40 and 60 m) when compared to conventional aerial surveys, such as airplane and helicopter;
  • Greater security for members and fewer people to be involved in projects;
  • Best value for money;

Similar to the regional aerogeophysical projects contracted by CPRM, the geophysical surveys with Drone would be of smaller scale and higher data resolution.

What are Magdrone’s Main Products?

After carrying out a Magdrone data acquisition campaign, the steps of correction and data processing are carried out. In the first case, the removal of spurious measures (spikes), daytime correction and removal of the IGRF are performed.

Regarding the processing of magnetometric data, several products will be generated from the leads of the anomalous magnetic field (CMA) and the inversions, resulting in the following main basic products:

  • Map of the Anomalous Magnetic Field – CMA
  • Map of the Anomalous Magnetic Field – Regional and Residual
  • Analytical Signal Amplitude and Slope Map – ASA and ISA
  • Map of the Vertical Derivative and Horizontal Gradient – DZ and GHT
  • Profile/2D Modeling
  • Inversion/2D and 3D modeling of anomalous bodies in the areas of interest, with depth estimates.
